Synthetic Imagery - Hyperspectral Environmental Suite (HES)

The HES Instrument

The proposed GOES-R HES instrument will have improved spectral resolution by 2 orders of magitude: from 19 channels on the current GOES sounder to over 1000. In addition, the horizontal resolution decreases from 10-km to 6-km. The synthetic loops below are meant to simulate four derived product images (DPI): precipitable water, CAPE, CIN, and Lifted Index.
