This page contains philatelic information on the JPSS (Joint Polar Satellite System) series. Catalog numbers, years of issue, and notes on the satellites featured are given when available. If readers know of additional information or images, please contact the authors using the e-mail addresses at the bottom of this page.
The JPSS series was formerly known as the National Polar-Orbiting Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) series. The S-NPP (Suomi-National Polar-orbiting Partnership) satellite, formerly known as the NPOESS Preparatory Project (NPP) satellite, is also part of the JPSS series. The Suomi spacecraft was named after Verner Soumi (1915–1995), considered to be the "father" of satellite meteorology.
JPSS-1 and 2 were renamed NOAA-20 and 21 when they became operational satellites.
