The Planck satellite is also known as COsmic Background Radiation Anisotropy Satellite / SAtellite for Measurement of Background Anisotropies (COBRAS-SAMBA).

Planck was launched along with the Herschel Space Observatory (HSO), also known as simply Herschel.
