Learning Objectives:


• Describe the spectrum of NHC tropical cyclone intensity models



• Describe the general strengths and weaknesses of each intensity model



• Understand how intensity models are used in consensus forecasts



• Have an overview of future intensity forecast model improvements



• Limitations of tropical cyclone structure forecasting

This is a basic course.

There are no prerequisites.

A.) The interactive VISITview training session. (To be used with a VISIT instructor leading the session ). Click here to signup for teletraining. The session will last 60 minutes. This teletraining session uses the VISITview software, where Windows PC with an Internet connection is needed.

B.) Web-based Video training session. Make sure the volume on your speakers is sufficient. If you are a NOAA employee that desires credit for taking this training session, take this course on the LMS. The course is listed in the training and development catalog under the tropical cyclones and hurricanes topic.
