Summary
- GINI satellite data for AWIPS has 2 major
differences when compared to native GOES data.
- Changing the default enhancements can allow us to see specific phenomena.
- CIRA/RAMM has developed specific enhancements that show features of the
specific GOES imager channels which are useful for interpretation.
- Color curves in AWIPS should take advantage of the high resolution satellite data. Black and white curves are useful for integrated data displays.
- Instead of making repetitive adjustments to detect specific features you
can save time by using modified enhancements.
- Change the fog/stratus product enhancement in AWIPS by following
the guide at WRH.
- There are a few subtle issues concerning the visible (saturation), 3.9 um (pattern at warm end),
6.7 um (temperature scale) and composited data.
