Fog Dissipation Curve for Visible (LA)
Visible imagery with default visible enhancement (top), LA enhancement (bottom)
- Forecasting fog dissipation
- Use 1 to 1.5 hours after sunrise
- Differences in visible brightness counts relate to fog dissipation rates when no intervening clouds are present
- See reference below for the complete description of this technique:
Gurka, J., 1978: The Use of Enhanced Visible Imagery for Predicting the Time of Fog Dissipation.
Preprints, Conference on Weather Forecasting and Analysis and Aviation Meteorology, October 16-19, 1978, Silver Spring, MD. Pages 343-346
