Introduction to GOES N, O, P

1) Introduction
GOES-N/O/P instrument changes:
- GOES-N post-launch check-out follows launch
- Better calibration (longer BlackBody looks)
- Better resolution of the 13.3 um channel on GOES-O/P
GOES-N/O/P bus change:
- No spring and fall eclipse outages
- Reduced Keep Out Zone outages
- Better calibration (colder detectors)
- Better navigation (earth sensor -> star tracker)
2) Prerequisites
None. This is a basic course.
3) Training Session Options:
A.) Audio playback - This VISITview file contains recorded audio and annotations and can be taken at anytime. For detailed information on how to view the recorded session click here.
Create a directory to download the audio playback file (it is about 21 MB in size) from the following site:
ftp://ftp.ssec.wisc.edu/visit/goes_n_audio_2006.zip
After unzipping the files into that directory click on the visitauto.bat file to start the lesson.
