Jerry Griffin (NWSTC), Todd Lericos (WFO CAR), Cammye Sims (WFO EWX), Jeff Tongue (WFO OKX), Mike Graf (NWSHQ), David Hotz (WFO MRX), Mark Struthwolf (WFO SLC) 1) Introduction Objectives: 1) Describe Conditional Climatology and what are some of the benefits and limitations 2) Discuss new AvnFPS climate tools and interpret output 3) Discuss current aviation forecast methods/limitations 4) Interpret and apply output to local case studies This training is divided into 2 modules: Module 1: Self-paced Camtasia module - For consumption by operational forecasters that introduces the new climatology tools , provides an extensive knobology, and provides a few case studies to illustrate the usefulness of the new tools. Module 2: VISITview Teletraining Session (this teletraining session) - Is geared toward SOOs, Aviation Focal points, and other interested forecasters. This module is focused on looking at Aviation forecasting from a larger perspective and how AVNFPS tools fit into the larger process. We also discuss how these tools can for training and case studies. Finally, we discuss how SOOs and Focal points can incorporate the tools and data locally to bring these tools more into the baseline process of aviation forecasting.
4) Training Session Options: B.) Local Visitview session - This is the same version of the lesson used in a "live" VISITview teletraining session, but no connection is made to an external VISITview server. You may download the file off this page and go through the lesson on your own in "local mode" by starting the "visitlocal.bat" file.
