Microwave Surface Emissivity

Introduction

This module describes differences in microwave emissivity that aid in the characterization of land surfaces, snow and ice cover, and water surfaces. Example imagery is used to highlight strengths and limitations of single channels, and to identify microwave products that are incorporated into numerical weather prediction models.
