PPRG

Preserve the Polar Regions
and Glaciers (PPRG)

Below is a checklist of Preserve the Polar Regions and Glaciers (PPRG) postal items (stamps, souvenir sheets, aerogrammes, postal cards, etc.). Catalog numbers, years of issue, and notes on the items featured are given when available. If readers know of additional information or images, please contact the authors using the e-mail addresses at the bottom of this page.

PPRG is being spearheaded by Finland and Chile (conceived when Chile's President visited Finland in May 2007 and will take place during 2009). The campaign is dedicated to raising awareness of the fragile state of the polar regions and glaciers in this era of global warming. Many countries have agreed to participate, with the postal items from many of those countries listed below. So far, 40 countries have issued stamps for PPRG. The remaining countries that are expected to issue PPRG stamps but have not done so yet are: India, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
